Established in 2017, Chatham Kelp is a Kelp Farm located in Nantucket Sound off of Chatham, MA that grows Sugar Kelp (Saccharina latissima) and dedicated to cultivating high-quality seaweed. Beyond its nutritional value, kelp also offers significant environmental benefits. As a fast-growing marine plant, kelp has a remarkable capacity for carbon sequestration, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change by absorbing CO2from the atmosphere. Additionally, kelp plays a crucial role in nitrogen removal, which can help improve water quality in coastal areas. Join Chatham Kelp co-founder Jamie Bassett for an in-depth introduction into the science and industry of local kelp farming!
