UPCOMING WELLFLEET EVENTS

The American Civil War 1861-1865
Open University of Wellfleet at Preservation Hall
The American Civil War, 1861-1865
This in-person course will be taught by instructor Maurice Isserman on Thursdays from 3-5pm October 2, 9, 16, 23, and Wed 29th. The American Civil War is the central event in the history of the United States of America, not least because its outcome guaranteed that there would be a United States of America in the 160 years that have followed. More Americans died in the Civil War than in all other wars fought by the nation combined. We will consider the war not just as a series of bloody battles, important as they were, but as a moment of political, social, and cultural transformation. The war led to the end of slavery and the establishment of birth-right citizenship, and remade the relationship between the states and the federal government. The Union was preserved through the sacrifices of hundreds of thousands of ordinary citizens, as well as the inspired leadership of some of the greatest individuals in US history, including Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and Ulysses S. Grant.
Class sessions will combine short power-point presentations by the instructor with discussion of weekly assigned readings from James McPherson, Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era Maurice Isserman, who has been visiting Wellfleet since 1969, is the Publius Virgilius Rogers Professor of American History at Hamilton College, where he has taught since 1990, following stints in the history departments of Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, and Williams College. He received his BA from Reed College and his Ph.D. from the University of Rochester. He taught a course on the Second World War for the Wellfleet Open University in 2024. He has published widely in a number of fields, including the history of American radicalism, the history of mountaineering, the history of the 1960s, and the history of the Second World War. His book Fallen Giants: The History of Himalayan Mountaineering from the Age of Empire to the Age of Extremes, co-authored with Stewart Weaver, won the Banff Literary Festival prize for best mountaineering history of 2008. He is currently writing a history of world mountaineering, told through ten epic climbs.
Suggested reading is James McPherson's Battle Cry of Freedom.

PAUL AND ÉMILE
Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater

But what might happen when they are unexpectedly reunited, in Cézanne’s studio, at the height of their separate life journeys?

HAROLD LÓPEZ NUSSA IN NUEVA TIMBA
Payomet at Wellfleet Preservation Hall
Blending the flavors of jazz with the Afro-Cuban influences of his upbringing, pianist Harold López-Nussa along with Luques Curtis, Ruy Adrian López-Nussa and Grégoire Maret are bringing their eclectic playing to Wellfleet Preservation Hall on Sunday, October 5 at 5pm– and you're welcome to join us following the performance*** for a special meet and greet with the artists. This show is presented by Payment.
On Nueva Timba, their newly released album, the jazz vanguard meets multiple eras of Cuba’s musical history with results that are at once accessible, life-affirming and strikingly accomplished. Featuring a core of unmatched talent — Harold’s brother, Ruy Adrian López-Nussa, on drums; Luques Curtis on bass; and the harmonica virtuoso Grégoire Maret — it feels like a definitive vision for the future of Latin jazz.
On “Bonito y Sabroso,” López-Nussa condenses the power of Benny Moré’s big band into a small-group arrangement, then adds modern, psychedelic hues through electronics and the beat-making of José Angel Blanco, a.k.a. El Negro WADPRO. Other highlights include “Niña Con Violin,” written by López-Nussa’s uncle, the acclaimed pianist Ernán López-Nussa, with gorgeous melodic bass work from Curtis. An arrangement of Ernesto Lecuona’s “Gitanerias” offers a master class in accenting classical virtuosity with a contemporary rhythmic thrust. The López-Nussa original “Cerca y Lejos” boasts welcome shades of early fusion-era Chick Corea.
For all its overwhelming mastery, however, this album is foremost a journey — a deeply personal narrative rooted in profound, often painful life changes.
Nueva Timba tells the very real story of a man displaced: a young father finding his way in a new country while missing his homeland with heartrending intensity; all the while, he’s nursing other emotional wounds including the passing of his mother, and the compounding torment brings him to a state of despair. Slowly but surely, sunshine begins to poke through the clouds, and he discovers a path forward. Something like happiness returns to the horizon. Consider NUEVA TIMBA musical tears of joy.

Blanche Lazzell: Becoming an American Modernist Field Trip
Wellfleet Adult Community Center
The Blanche Lazzell: Becoming an American Modernist exhibit explores the pioneering artist’s lifelong pursuit of translating Modernism into an American art form and celebrates her largely unsung achievements in championing abstraction in the United States through painting and printmaking. This exhibition surveys the full career of American modernist Blanche Lazzell (1878–1956). Celebrated for her masterful white-line woodblock prints, Lazzell considered herself a painter first and foremost—from her early days studying in West Virginia, New York, and Paris through Depression-era Federal Art Projects and as a longtime resident of Provincetown’s vibrant art community.
PAAM is partnering with us to provide a comprehensive educational experience about Lazzell and the history of the white-line print. This includes a film screening, a demonstration of the white-line print technique by a local artist, and a guided tour of the exhibition with a local art historian. We leave from the Wellfleet WACC at 9:15 a.m. and will return by 1:00 p.m. Transportation will be provided by WACC. Space is limited to 11 participants, and Wellfleet residents/taxpayers receive first preference. Please bring your own light snack and water.

Community Read of Pema Chödrön's "When Things Fall Apart"
Wellfleet Public Library
Community Read of When Things Fall Apart, presented by the Lily House
How can we live our lives when everything seems to fall apart-when we are continually overcome by fear, anxiety, and pain? The answer, Pema Chödrön suggests, might be just the opposite of what you expect. Here, in her most beloved and acclaimed work, Pema shows that moving toward painful situations and becoming intimate with them can open up our hearts in ways we never before imagined. Drawing from traditional Buddhist wisdom, she offers life-changing tools for transforming suffering and negative patterns into habitual ease and boundless joy.
Led by Kim Crawford, board member of the The Lily House and Senior Minister Emerita of Arlington Street Church (UU), Boston.

Thunderchild from the Oversoul Theatre Collective
Wellfleet Preservation Hall
Thunderchild is written and performed by Mwalim | Directed by The ZYG 808.
"Complexity will always shatter into simplicity..." So begins THUNDERCHILD—a bold, genre-defying performance piece by acclaimed storyteller, musician, and griot Mwalim DaPhunkee Professor.
In this deeply personal and soul-shaking work, Mwalim enters his "Silver Fox Griot" era—reflecting on aging, legacy, creativity, and cultural evolution as a Black and Native artist, educator, and man. Through sharp wit, raw truth, and groove-drenched music,THUNDERCHILD explores what it means to step into elderhood with fire, funk, and full command of your voice.
Blending spoken-word storytelling with live performance of songs from his critically acclaimed 2024 album THUNDERCHILD(Poly-Groove Records), the piece pulses with a sonic mix of blues, soul, punk, and alternative rock—echoing the lived experience of a life steeped in movement and meaning. Directed by The ZYG 808, the show dances between the sacred and the streetwise, the academic and the ancestral.
“How else do we go from Miles Davis to House Music, or from Stravinsky to The Stooges?” Mwalim asks. THUNDERCHILD is his answer—a reminder that the lines between genres, lives, and generations are meant to be crossed, blurred, and reimagined.
Mwalim is a multi-award-winning playwright, author, composer, and educator, co-founder of the multi-Grammy-nominated band The GroovaLottos, and a member of the underground dance collective WAMPTRONICA. With THUNDERCHILD, he draws on decades of experience to offer a performance that is as fierce, funky, and fearless as the griot tradition demands.
THUNDERCHILD is not just a performance. It’s a calling. A passage. A groove for the next chapter.

Biochar with Bob Wells
Wellfleet Public Library
Bob Wells is the owner and manager of New England Biochar LLC, based in Eastham. The company makes biochar, a charcoal-like material made from waste wood that can hold onto nutrients and water in the soil, making them much more available to plants. Manufacturing and applying biochar is a recognized way of capturing and tying up carbon in the soil for centuries, thus keeping it from returning to the atmosphere in the form of CO2.

Wellfleet Historical Society at the Wellfleet Library
The Wellfleet Historical Society & Museum Presents
I Remember Wellfleet With Dwight Estey
Reminiscing helps keep history alive. Bring your favorite story about Wellfleet whether it be the town, the people, your proudest moment or wildest hijinks. What were special days like when you got together with friends? Where did you meet? What did a nickel get you - or a dollar? For those adult years - did you hop in the car to go dancing in P-Town? This is a great time to relate tales about what those from away called the off-season but locals called "our time."
There will be a few stories lined up ahead of time to get started. They include "goings on" at the town dump (before it was a transfer station), the pier and on Main Street. And atleast one real ghost story.
Each time WHS&M hosts one of these "I Remember Wellfleet" talks we find out more about our town. Dwight Estey will moderate this informal discussion but the stars are those who share their stories for all to enjoy.
Come ready to listen and share. Bring a friend to reminisce with you.

Oysterfest 2025
Wellfleet Oyster Alliance
Beloved by locals and visitors alike, our annual Wellfleet OysterFest™ has grown to become one of the most popular events on Cape Cod. Started back in 2001, OysterFest is a 2-day party that pulses with everything that makes life in Wellfleet so special; art, seafood, and community.
Upwards of 20,000 people gather in the heart of downtown for one weekend in October to celebrate our world famous oysters. This family-friendly hootenanny takes over Main Street with local food, beer and wine gardens, live music, arts and crafts vendors, and, of course, oysters. Lots and lots of oysters and other ‘Fleet-raised shellfish dished out directly from the men and women who harvest them along our shores. There are culinary demonstrations, educational lectures, an annual road race, and a Family Fun area complete with kid-friendly crafting, games, and a bounce house.
OysterFest is also home to the annual Wellfleet Oyster Shuck-Off competition. A fiercely contested gathering of oyster athletes, our Shuck-Off is the biggest oyster shucking competition in America. Shuckers from far and wide battle it out with our local oyster knife athletes for the ultimate bi-valve bragging rights, cash prizes, and the opportunity to have their name immortalized on our Golden Oyster trophy.

Author Talk: Dan Martino
Wellfleet Public Library
The Oyster Book
The oyster is one of Earth's oldest animals, and fossil records show humans have enjoyed them for hundreds of thousands of years. But like so many other creatures, wild oysters were driven to near extinction by overconsumption and pollution. The Clean Water Act passed in 1972 marked a turning point for water quality, and decades later, we're witnessing a renaissance in oyster culture as the rise of aquaculture (ocean farming) attempts to supply a growing demand for oysters. Internationally renowned oyster farmer Dan Martino guides readers through this fascinating history before presenting a detailed breakdown of the current state of the oyster industry as only an insider can. He discusses husbandry, nursery, and farm techniques; the practical side of working with local government to set up a farm; tips for selling into the market; and what qualities make for the perfect oyster. The Oyster Book is an exploration of the past, present, and future of humanity's relationship with the oyster, highlighting how humans can learn from our mistakes and harness the oyster's potential for a more sustainable future.
Dan Martino was a TV producer for a decade when he stumbled upon oyster farming while filming a show. The opportunities within the oyster farming industry were so apparent that Dan promptly changed careers and started his own tarm, Cottage City Oysters, oft the coast of Martha's Vineyard with his brother Greg. With over a decade of farming under his belt, Dan and the Cottage City Oyster Farm have become international leaders within the 3D regenerative farming industry.

MET Opera at WHAT: La Sonnambula
Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater
La Sonnambula
Following triumphant Live in HD performances in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Verdi’s La Traviata, and Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Nadine Sierra summits another peak of the soprano repertoire as Amina, who sleepwalks her way into audiences’ hearts in Bellini’s poignant tale of love lost and found. In his new production, Rolando Villazón—the tenor who has embarked on a brilliant second career as a director—retains the opera’s original setting in the Swiss Alps but uses its somnambulant plot to explore the emotional and psychological valleys of the mind. Tenor Xabier Anduaga co-stars as Amina’s fiancé, Elvino, alongside soprano Sydney Mancasola as her rival, Lisa, and bass Alexander Vinogradov as Count Rodolfo. Riccardo Frizza takes the podium for one of opera’s most ravishing works, which will be transmitted live from the Met stage to cinemas on October 18. This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe.

His collaboration with Jim Belushi resulted in “Birthday Boy” which was nominated for a cable ACE Award.
Claude went on to write, direct and produce, “They Never Found Her” with Elisabeth Moss and Fargo’s Peter Stormare. He is the writer of “Mortal Thoughts” for Columbia Pictures, starring Bruce Willis, Demi Moore and Harvey Keitel, “The Shadow War,” for Universal Studios, and “Darkman and the Circus of Fear,” with Producer Sam Raimi.

20 Trailblazing Women Filmmakers
Open University of Wellfleet at Preservation Hall
20 Trailblazing Women Filmmakers
Taught by instructor Claude Kerven on Thursdays 10am-12pm 10/23, 11/6, 11/13, and 11/20 , and Tuesday 10/28 This in-person class will take place at the Wellfleet Preservation Hall at 335 Main Street in Wellfleet.
Movies play a key role in spreading awareness among women, uncovering their potential, challenging the male-dominated world and making further social change. Historically, the film industry has portrayed women as wives, lovers and mothers, or as glorified objects of beauty, symbolizing sex appeal and entertainment. But due to the feminist movement, gender stereotypes are finally being challenged, and more complex female characters represented on screen. Female directors offer the audience an unbiased and realistic image of women that aligns with their actual status in society. Additionally, films directed by women are more often written by women and have more leading female characters than in films directed by male filmmakers. This lecture series will address the greater recognition women directors are beginning to receive and honor 20 remarkable women who blazed the trail.

Examining Samuel Beckett and Waiting for Godot
Open University of Wellfleet at Preservation Hall
This class taught by instructor Steven Reynolds is Wednesdays 2-4pm November 5th, 12th, 19th, and Dec 3rd
Waiting for Godot, which premiered in Paris in 1953, is being presented on Broadway this fall with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter directed by Jamie Lloyd. How has this absurdist play survived when so many people have either booed it or walked out of it? Why has it received so many acclaimed productions performed by the very best from Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart to Bert Lahr and E.G. Marshall to Robin Williams and Steve Martin? Directors such as Herbert Blau and Mike Nichols have staged it. I directed a college theatre production years ago and it still haunts me and members of my cast.
We will spend a class on playwright Samuel Beckett, a class on Act I, a class on Act II, and a final class on various famous productions and critical reviews. We will read some of the text aloud, share our experiences with the play and what it means to us (especially at this stage of our lives) and see if we can reach any conclusions about whether it deserves its classic status. We may even begin to understand it. There is a free copy of the play available on Kindle devices. Reading Beckett’s authorized biography, Damned to Fame: The Life of Samuel Beckett by James R. Knowlson would be very helpful as well as attending any productions of a Beckett play. The Provincetown Tennessee Williams Festival is producing, Catastrophe: A Beckettian Cabaret September 25-28 and Cape Rep is producing the Irish play Trad by Mark Doherty which has Godot-like themes.

Wellfleet Preservation Hall
Join Ken Field's New Orleans-influenced group Revolutionary Snake Ensemble as they celebrate the Cuneiform Records release of their 5th album, "Serpentine", recorded live at Regattabar in Cambridge!!
The Revolutionary Snake Ensemble is a funk/street beat improvisational brass band performing a unique blend of original and traditional music. Featuring award-winning and acclaimed Boston-area musicians, including Field/alto sax & flute, David B. Harris/trombone, Jerry Sabatini/trumpet, Blake Newman/acoustic bass, & Phil Neighbors/drums, the group has been attracting a devoted following by making beautiful noise & creative sounds for over three decades. The group has performed in the US and Europe, continuing "to push the brass band tradition forward in an entirely original way, all the while making music that's a heck of a lot of fun." - NYC Jazz Record.
RSE "mines the vein of New Orleans - with post-bop, and touches of Avant - this band cooks, edgy, raucous, fun, and first rate!" - KBCS Radio, Washington. The Boston Globe says that RSE "brilliantly bridges the booty/brain barrier!" and in a prescient characterization, Step Tempest writes that RSE is "finding joy in the rhythms of the street, in the melodies of the everyday, and in the shouts one creates against the darkness." KUT, Austin, TX calls RSE's music "something quite original in the world of jazz and beyond."
Don't miss this rare Outer Cape performance by a group whose albums have been included on best-of-year lists by no less than WNYC Music Director John Schaefer and the late Village Voice Music Writer Francis Davis.

MET Opera at WHAT: La Bohéme
Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater
La Bohéme
With its enchanting setting and spellbinding score, the world’s most popular opera is as timeless as it is heartbreaking. Franco Zeffirelli’s picture-perfect production brings 19th-century Paris to the Met stage as Puccini’s young friends and lovers navigate the joy and struggle of bohemian life. Soprano Juliana Grigoryan is the feeble seamstress Mimì, opposite tenor Freddie De Tommaso as the ardent poet Rodolfo. Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts the November 8 performance, which will be transmitted live from the Met stage to cinemas worldwide. This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe.

Author Talk: Corinne Demas
Wellfleet Public Library
Daughters - A Novel
From award-winning author Corinne Demas comes a moving story about the sometimes volatile but ultimately unbreakable bonds between mothers and daughters.
When Meredith flies home to New England, daughter Eloise in tow, she leaves her husband and a life back in LA. A heartbreaking loss is killing their marriage. So she looks to her mother and siblings for the support she desperately needs, and the love her daughter surely deserves-two things her husband can't provide. Meredith's mother, Delia, is thrilled by their sudden arrival at the family farm. But her husband braces for the chaos his stepdaughter granddaughter will surely bring.
Meredith's announcement that she's moved home for good takes the whole family by surprise and turns everything upside down. While wrestling with her future, artist Meredith is forced to confront her past-and the disappointment she believes her mother, a violin teacher, felt when musically gifted Meredith abandoned the violin. As Meredith works to repair relationships with members of her family, an old flame turns up and further complicates her life. Delia, in a desperate attempt to rescue her daughter's marriage, does something unforgivable, and Meredith has to decide if she should uproot Eloise and take off. When Eloise goes missing, help arrives from an unexpected quarter.
Corinne Demas is the award-winning author of thirty-eight books, including six novels, two short story collections, a memoir, a poetry chapbook, a play, and numerous books for children. She is the editor of Great American Short Stories: From Hawthorne to Hemingway. Demas is a professor emerita of English at Mount Holyoke College and a fiction editor for The Massachusetts Review. She divides her time between western Massachusetts and Cape Cod.

Recall your first oyster, your hangover remedies, your perfect grilled cheese. Food in all its aspects will be the subject of our writing in these classes. Sign up for one or all three classes.

MET Opera at WHAT: I Puritani
Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater
I Puritani
For gorgeous melody, spellbinding coloratura, and virtuoso vocal fireworks, IPuritani has few equals. On January 10, the first new Met production of Bellini’s final masterpiece in nearly 50 years—a striking staging by Charles Edwards, who makes his company directorial debut after many successes as a set designer—arrives in cinemas worldwide. The Met has assembled a world-beating quartet of stars, conducted by Marco Armiliato, for the demanding principal roles. Soprano Lisette Oropesa and tenor Lawrence Brownlee are Elvira and Arturo, brought together by love and torn apart by the political rifts of the English Civil War, with baritone Artur Ruciński as Riccardo, betrothed to Elvira against her will, and bass-baritone Christian Van Horn as Elvira’s sympathetic uncle, Giorgio. This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe.

MET Opera at WHAT: Tristan und Isolde
Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater
Tristan und Isolde
Conductor Joana Mallwitz makes her Met debut leading an extraordinary cast in Mozart’s comic masterpiece. Bass-baritone Michael Sumuel stars as the clever valet Figaro, opposite soprano Olga Kulchynska as his betrothed, the wily maid Susanna. Baritone Joshua Hopkins is the skirt-chasing Count, with soprano Federica Lombardi as his anguished wife and mezzo-soprano Sun-Ly Pierce as the adolescent page Cherubino. This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe.

MET Opera at WHAT: Eugene Onegin
Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater
Eugene Onegin
Following her acclaimed 2024 company debut in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, soprano Asmik Grigorian returns to the Met as Tatiana, the lovestruck young heroine in this ardent operatic adaptation of Pushkin, which will be transmitted live from the Metropolitan Opera stage to cinemas worldwide on May 2. Baritone Igor Golovatenko is the urbane Onegin, who realizes his affection for her all too late. The Met’s evocative production, directed by Tony Award–winner Deborah Warner, “offers a beautifully detailed reading of … Tchaikovsky’s lyrical romance” (The Telegraph). This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe.

MET Opera at WHAT: El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego
Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater
El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego
On May 30, the Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 Live in HD season comes to a close with a live transmission of American composer Gabriela Lena Frank’s first opera, a magical-realist portrait of Mexico’s painterly power couple Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, with libretto by Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Nilo Cruz. Fashioned as a reversal of the Orpheus and Euridice myth, the story depicts Frida, sung by leading mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, leaving the underworld on the Day of the Dead and reuniting with Diego, portrayed by baritone Carlos Álvarez. The famously feuding pair briefly relive their tumultuous love, embracing both the passion and the pain before bidding the land of the living a final farewell. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Met-premiere staging of Frank’s opera, a “confident, richly imagined score” (The New Yorker) that “bursts with color and fresh individuality” (Los Angeles Times). The vibrant new production, taking enthusiastic inspiration from Frida and Diego’s paintings, is directed and choreographed by Deborah Colker. This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe.

Shoulder Season with the Chive Collective
Wellfleet Public Library
Sometimes the spaces in between seasons are the best time to reflect on life. To just sit back and be at peace with whatever is happening around you. Shoulder season on the Cape offers just that, a quiet beautiful solitude when the crowds have gone home. Take the time to listen to poetry and let it seep into your pores. Before you swing into the next season, savor this moment where everything is green and full of life.
The Chive Collective is a small group of female poets for whom Cape Cod is their full-time or seasonal home. They are Eileen Cleary, Christine Bess Jones, Gloria Monaghan, and Annie Pluto.

Life with Oscar: A Darkly Comic Confessional Rollercoaster Ride Through Hollywood
Wellfleet Preservation Hall
Part on stage confessional, part on stage exorcism, actor and filmmaker Nick Cohen recounts his rollercoaster journey from Edgware Road in London to Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles trying to crack Hollywood. Growing up, Nick had dreams of Oscar glory but when he touched down in La La Land, things didn’t quite go as planned. Life with Oscar is a dark autobiographical comedy that sees Nick come to terms with the feelings of shame, failure and later redemption from his time in Tinseltown via his Jewish roots and a host of larger-than-life characters from the twisted underbelly of the City of Angels. Nick plays 29 different characters as he relates his journey, including a double Oscar winning housemate who worked with iconic filmmaker Orson Welles and promised Nick an Oscar nomination, the man who modeled the Oscar trophy itself, and a potential future bride who just happens to be the daughter of a psychotic producer. Life with Oscar debuted at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe (Underbelly) in 2023 before then transferring to the Arcola Theatre in London and touring to the East Coast of the USA in 2024 and venues across the UK in Spring 2025.
Nick said, ‘I was always evasive about what happened to me in Hollywood. It took a long time to understand that the mortifying embarrassment and sense of failure, was - not only something that many people feel about their careers - but also very funny. Having received great responses to the show in Edinburgh, London, and the USA, I am excited to bring Life With Oscar back to more locations across the USA.’
Nick Cohen is a writer, actor, director and producer. He trained with Theatre de Complicite and began his career at the Gate Theatre and the RSC and was later Staff Director at the Royal National Theatre under Trevor Nunn. As Artistic Director of Strange Fish Theatre, he directed
The Power and The Glory (Etcetera Theatre), Good Bones (Southwark Playhouse) and The Taming of The Shrew (Bloomsbury Theatre and international tour) as well as producing Blood Knot (Gate Theatre) which was Time Out Critic’s Choice. Later, Nick trained on the BBC Drama
Director’s Academy directing screen works including feature films London Unplugged, The Reeds, Beginners Luck, TV episodes of Eastenders, Doctors, Channel Four documentary Firing Line, and a number of short fiction films and nonprofit films for the Refugee Council and Migrant Resource Centre.

Field School: Birding the Fall Migration
Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay
Sept 26, 27 & 28
Birding on the Cape during fall migration offers incredible diversity. Resident species mingle with southbound migrants and early arriving winter birds. We will explore the Outer Cape's barrier beaches, salt marshes, tidal flats, and woodlands in search of shorebirds, raptors, seabirds, songbirds, and ducks. This field school also features a whale watch out of Provincetown to search for pelagic birds!
During the course, we will touch upon topics such as identification, breeding biology, foraging ecology, and migration-including a fantastic opportunity to experience bird banding through a demonstration by Certified Master Bander James Junda. There is nothing as exciting as seeing a bird up-close and in-hand, and to learn what researchers can learn about birds only through banding! That evening, an indoor presentation will complement our field experiences.
*Please note: the hours listed on the schedule may vary from the sample schedule in the field school brochure and are subject to change based on tides, staff, optimal wildlife sightings, and other variables. A detailed schedule will be prepared and sent to registrants at approximately 3-4 weeks in advance.
This course is one of several Cape Cod Field Schools offered. To learn more, visit www.massaudubon.org/capecodfieldschools.

The Fiddle & the Harp DJs in Concert to Benefit WOMR
Wellfleet Preservation Hall
WOMR's The Fiddle and the Harp DJs present an evening of live Celtic music with Dinah Mellin, Walter Buckingham, Mark O'Leary, and Denya LeVine.
Dinah Mellin was classically trained on violin, then got an art degree from Wells College. Dinah joined The Cape Cod Fiddlers, and various other bands over the decades. Allegretto Outreach, a group that took music demo programs to Cape Cod schools, was something Dinah started at Snow Library, Orleans. Brick Hill House Concerts, where folks can hear every note, is Dinah’s living room. Some big-time names have performed in Dinah’s house since 2010; such as Jim Malcolm of Old Blind Dogs, Seamus Begley, Eilis Kennedy; Riley Baugus & Dirk Powell; Rocker Patti Rothberg; the list goes on.
Walter Buckingham's love and mastery of good music is suited to an unusually wide range of styles and settings. Educated at Berklee College of Music, Walter has performed on a number of record labels including Northstar Records, Mode Records, and Folksong in the Classroom. He has performed & recorded with composer/conductor John Cage at Jordan Hall, New England Conservatory, Boston, and in concert series with Tom Rush, Michael Johnson, and Aztec Two Step.
Mark O’Leary was raised on a diet of Irish songs and stories. In college he discovered a love of performing, and appeared in a number of groups, all of which eventually disbanded due to varying combinations of matrimony and fisticuffs. But the love of the music continued--and continues--and today you can occasionally hear him at sessions, farmers markets and other locations around the Cape.
Denya LeVine, fiddler, ukulele player, singer, has been a WOMR DJ since 1985. Raised on a regimen of folk, classical and ethnic music, she's been performing since her dentist asked her to sing when she was 5. A full-time entertainer for 20 plus years, and part time for decades before, she chose to cut back to half time after the pandemic. It's enough. She loves the concept of creating a shindig with Dinah, Mark and Walter.
Doors open at 6:30pm. Show starts at 7pm. Tickets now available at www.eventbrite.com/e/the-fiddle-the-harp-djs-in-concert-to-benefit-womr-tickets-1458611248509?aff=oddtdtcreator

PAUL AND ÉMILE
Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater
Paul Cézanne and Émile Zola were inseparable as schoolboys in Aix-en-Provence. Once up in Paris they shivered sharing a bed and eating broiled sparrows, impatient for the world to recognize their genius, one as painter, the other as writer. Then, inexplicably, came a bitter falling out and a mystifying two decades of silence. But what might happen when they are unexpectedly reunited, in Cézanne’s studio, at the height of their separate life journeys?
Performance schedule: Thursday - Saturday at 7:00 pm, Sundays at 3:00 pm

PLEASURES OF THE SCRIPT - A PLAYREADING GROUP
Plays are meant to be heard out loud, but unless you have tickets to the theater, how often do you have a chance to hear one? Join our play-reading group, where we will read classic to contemporary plays out loud to better appreciate the language and cadence of the written dialogue! This will be a great opportunity to discover plays you may not be familiar with, or rediscover old favorites seen (or heard) in a new light. Everyone is welcome to participate. Acting experience not required.
Hosted by Candace Perry and Racine Oxtoby.
