The Trump administration's opening barrage against immigrants - arresting thousands of people around the country and declaring that hospitals, schools, and churches are no longer off limits - has put a chill on immigrant communities. As a candidate during the 2024 election, Trump vowed to initiate "the largest domestic deportation operation in American history," targeting not only undocumented immigrants but also, potentially, individuals currently protected under programs such as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status (TPS), Deferred Enforced Departure (DED), and humanitarian parole programs established during the Biden administration. In 2025, rumors of raids are flying. People are afraid to go to the hospital, send their kids to school, or travel anywhere that is not their home.
In this presentation, historian, author, and activist Aviva Chomsky will look at President Trump's immigration policies and what has changed since his first presidency.
