Languages of Nature and Art: A movement and nature workshop
September 17th
From 10:30 to 4:30 pm
LNLA is a movement-sound-based workshop that explores the origin of primary language. We discover that this is the kinship language that humans have in common with the natural world. This is an evolutionary and developmental exploration beginning with guided mediation in-utero. We extend this to discover how primary language is core to art-making. We play with movement games, visual art-making, and poetry as forerunners for making mini dances. With these experiences, we immerse ourselves through primary languaging with the natural world. Based on our encounters, we create a ceremonial dance piece honoring our kinship with nature. We work with improvisational musicians. No previous study in the various arts required.
This workshop is donation based. Contact Becky Burrill (Rebecca.burrill@aol.com) to register.
Rebecca R Burrill, Ed.D, is a dancer, artistic director, teaching artist, and movement-based child developmentalist and educator. Her most recent publication is Art as Ecology: A mutual Nod. horsechestnutwinds.com/
