Kai Potter is an artist, writer, surfer, and landscape designer born and raised on the outer edge of Cape Code. He grew up amongst the scrub pines. sand dunes, wild oceans. and colorful characters that shape the landscape there. He is a regular contributor to the Provincetown Independent. He is often found wading through roadside meadows or lying flat, cheek pressed to the ground in pursuit of a closer look.
"Cape Cod has long provided fertile ground for writers, but especially for observers of the natural world. Thoreau. Henry Beston, John Hay, Wyman Richardson, and Mary Oliver - among many others - have produced classic works in the genre. Until recently, I had wondered if this rich tradition had run its course. But when discovered Kai Potter's essays in the Provincetown Independent, I realized that the tradition was alive and well. And with his debut collection - Noticing:- The Quiet Season on Outer Cape Cod - he has established a place for himself as a worthy addition to the pantheon of Cape Cod Nature Writers.”
Robert Finch, author of The Outer Beach: A Thousand-Mile Walk on Cape Cod’s Atlantic Shore
