Ocean Weather - with Frances Achorn

  • Wellfleet Public Library 55 West Main St Wellfleet, MA 02667 United States (map)

Wellfleet Public Library

The ocean influences weather and climate in ways we may not initially predict. Ocean currents drive weather patterns, regulating global climates and helping to counteract the uneven distribution of solar radiation reaching Earth's surface. Join NOAA meteorologist and Wellfleet native Frances Achorn for a presentation on how the weather forming over our oceans affects the world overall.

Frances Achorn is the Senior Developmental Meteorologist for the Ocean Prediction Center. A native of Wellfleet, Achorn graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a bachelor's degree in Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Space Sciences.
