Burbage tells the story Richard Burbage, a leading actor in the time of William Shakespeare. Set following a performance of “Hamlet”, Burbage is a story of legacy, family, honor, and art; shedding new light on one of history’s most celebrated writers through the eyes of one of its forgotten heroes.

Neil McGarry, known to audiences from Boston to Prague for his award winning solo performance of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, returns to the role of Richard Burbage in “Cape Cod Times Critic’s Favorite”. First produced in 2010, Burbage received a Black Box Fellowship in 2012 at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre and opened at BPT in January of 2013 as the first production produced by The Bay Colony Shakespeare Company. Burbage was chosen for the 18th Annual New York International Fringe Festival running for three weeks in NYC at the NY Fringe in August of 2014.
