Peter R. Cook is a third-generation Provincetown native, born and raised in the heart of Massachusetts' historic fishing community. Descended from Azorean immigrants who arrived in 1872, Cook followed his family's seafaring legacy, working as a commercial fisherman aboard vessels like the F/V Little Infant and F/V Barbara Lee, where he served as both crewman and engineer. A retired auto mechanic, writer, and passionate historian, Cook has preserved Provincetown's maritime heritage through his photography, storytelling, and filmmaking. His acclaimed 2012 documentary Dad I Wanna Go Fishin' —co-produced with Paul deRuyter—draws from his own experiences and rare archival footage to celebrate the grit and bonds of fishing life. Now 80, Cook continues to share tales of the sea at local events, embodying the unbreakable spirit of Cape Cod's working waterfront.
