David Gonville Solo Exhibition / Opening Reception: Saturday, September 14th / 4-7 pm

Please join us in our Wellfleet, Cape Cod gallery celebrating a solo exhibition of new, stunning sustainable work by David Gonville. 

David Gonville is a contemporary artist inspired by the ocean and its convergence with surf, weather, landforms, and contemporary human interaction. He begins his process by creating multiple large wood panels of different colors, textures, and mediums, varying layers of oil paint, encaustic, plaster, and found raw materials to make each unique in its process. He then deconstructs and reconstructs the panels using common carpenter’s tools to build a sculptural painting; a new abstract form. The intuitive process of painting, cutting, sorting, and constructing is integral to its final form. 

The compositions that emerge in David's work reference personal experiences in the ever-changing coastal environment. David transcribes these experiences of shifting weather patterns, open space, peaceful surroundings, and odd beach Americana into his work. He paints to convey this connection with the ocean and the natural world around him. 

David Gonville’s art is collected internationally and he lives with his family and wife in his native Rhode Island.

Come meet David in person, sip something lovely and enjoy this stunning show. It will be on display from Saturday, September 14th through Sunday, September 29th. Our Wellfleet gallery is open every day and is hosting an artist reception for David on Saturday, September 14th from 3-7pm.
