Mass Audubon at Wellfleet Bay
Cape Cod is renowned for its saltwater environments, but there is more to the Cape than just ocean, bay, and beaches. Tucked away among the pine-oak woodlands are quiet, deep, and clear freshwater ponds. These quiet hollows with their lenses of still water reflecting the surrounding landscape are a quintessential feature of the old, wild, coastal sandplains.
Join us as we paddle on a chain of kettle ponds in the woods of Wellfleet. We will visit Gull, Higgins, and Williams Ponds and investigate the natural and cultural history of each. Pack lunch and bring a towel to enjoy a quiet picnic and swim.
Recent, previous paddling experience is required.
