Mass Audubon
Mainland Cape Cod's most isolated coastline, Great Island, is a 3-mile barrier beach with a fascinating history. Guided by an experienced naturalist and paddler, we will paddle out of the Herring River basin and along the glacial bluffs of Great Island out to Great Beach Hill.
Along the way, we will stop at the historic Great Island Tavern Site, meander along a beautiful salt marsh, and enjoy lunch at a remote beach.
Currents and winds are a factor to consider in this system, and sustained periods of paddling is required of participants. Recent, previous paddling experience is required.
