Ceramics is for me the perfect medium, one that lets me combine my interest in Natural History, and awe of nature with my love for colors, through the infinite possibilities of the glazing process. Ceramics also embodies for me my deeply heldbelief that beautiful and meaningful art can be created out of very simple materials. The feeling of immediacy that comes when working with clay and it's incredible versatility are very liberating. When I work in my studio, I often find myself reflecting on the loss of species that we are witnessing, wishing that plants and animals that surround us were better adapted to maintaining their position in a world dominated by humans. In my practice, I try to bring a natural world of my imagination into the third dimension, sculpting and creating plants and animals that could populate a new world, a world that I can only anticipate to be a post-human world.
