INTRODUCTION TO SCREENWRITING with Claude Kerven

January 15th - February 12th, 2025

This 5-week course is perfect for newbie screenwriters! I’ll teach you all the essential tools and lingo you need to write a kickass short film. Together, we’ll turn your awesome idea into a first draft screenplay. Don’t sweat it, we’ll start with the basics of visual storytelling. We’ll dive into breaking down story structure, theme, character, and conflict. Plus, our in-class discussions are a no-pressure zone where you will get supportive feedback. We’ll encourage you to convey your story through visuals instead of just relying on dialogue. And don’t worry about finding time for this course - classes only meet once a week on laid-back Wednesdays from 10am-1pm (with a 20-minute break, of course).

No experience necessary.

INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS:

This class is taught in lots of different ways, like lectures, group chats, writing tasks, and project talks. Everyone should be cool with sharing their work and chatting about their classmates work in class.
