ARTIST’S STATEMENT:

My photographs record things which have never happened previously, and which will never happen again. This unique combination of detail, light, a paused moment, clouds, time of day, my lens, how the sun bears down: all unique. And, for an instant, maybe 1/90th of a second, breathtaking. Preoccupations abate. Everything in a moment and forever. Can time move forward without our celebrations, 4th of July, Carnival, or new pine cones?

As you inspect these images, I hope you
can feel my “Look at this! …and this!”
Flora and folk, so incredible!

ARTIST’S BIO:

I  have been photographing for over 70 years. Photography is my way of understanding, of noticing. I’ve had a home darkroom for most of this time, and I’m only now considering giving it up to be purely digital.

My first camera after my parents’ Brownie was a Speed Graphic 4x5, with which I photographed my high school yearbook. This was augmented by an early Nikon F.

I was fortunate to attend college in NYC during the years of student revolution and participated in the foundation of the International Center of Photography. Those years were drunk with excitement, stimulation and pleasure.  I’m retired now, but the challenges of our wetland restoration and events in our community keep me busy.
There’s a lot left to do.
