Join us for two documentaries - The Cooperators (7.5 minutes) and At Home in Utopia (57 minutes) - that delve into the inspiring stories of the inception of cooperative communities. In At Home in Utopia, discover the absorbing story of the United Workers Cooperative a.k.a. The Coops - built in 1926 by immigrants, factory workers, and idealists who were determined to live out their dreams of social equality and justice, in the here and now. In The Cooperators, learn about how the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU) provided affordable housing to the working people of New York City with the establishment of the Penn South housing development.

Preceding both movies will be an introduction by NYC labor organizer Trudy Rudnick, who will discuss the genesis of affordable housing in America and how it started in conjunction with the power of union organization.
