Wellfleet Adult Community Center

Have you ever stood on the shore watching Wellfleet oyster harvesters and wondered how to shellfish?  Have you “picked a few tides” over time, but now feel a bit out of practice?  Or maybe you go every week and just want some tips from the pros?  If so, this class is for you!  We will be joined by lifelong shellfisherman Paul Murzyn and members of the Wellfleet Shellfish Department who will teach us Wellfleet’s Recreational Shellfishing Regulations and Harvest Areas, plus salty Wellfleet Wisdom including “where to find them” and “how to shuck them”.

This class is open to all adults, but it has a particular focus on teaching techniques to open the world of Wellfleet Recreational Shellfishing to those over 50 years of age.

The goal of this class is to build your confidence so you can get your Wellfleet Recreational Shellfish license and enjoy the very best Wellfleet has to offer - Wellfleet Oysters, salt water and fun! Learn about easy gear adaptations and techniques to carry your shellfish around and off the flats as you age.

Please call the Wellfleet Community Center at 508-349-2800 to reserve your spot.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Wellfleet Council on Aging..
