This presentation will discuss three research projects of mine that address biodiversity in restored salt marshes. It will give an overview of salt marsh restoration in New England and discuss how current restoration activities are impacting often un-considered aspects of biodiversity like genetic diversity. The three projects will traverse three disparate disciplines; fundamental ecology, population genetics, and social science.
Katie Sperry (she/her) is an ecologist with an interest in restoring coastal ecosystems. She has a BA in Biology and a PhD in Marine and Environmental Science and has spent the last decade researching how to best conserve and restore the habitats people enjoy and rely upon. She has a special interest in species and places that are commonly overlooked, like grasses and swampy marshes.
