  • Wellfleet Public Library 55 W Main Street Wellfleet, MA, 02667 United States (map)

Wellfleet Public Library

Passionate about Indian textiles, quilt artist Ann Hoenigswald has reimagined the architecture of the abandoned 16th century Indian city, Fatehpur Sikri, in fabric. Exclusively using Indian textiles, and showcasing those materials, she has drawn on her own photographs as well as 19th century British architectural drawings to create a series of quilts. In this program, Hoenigswald will discuss how the idea was conceived, her design process, the execution of the pieces, and how the fabrics themselves often prescribed the development of the quilts. Discussion about the textile tradition in India as well as the quilt tradition will also be examined.
