SHADOW THEATER

Ages 9 -12

Mondays 3:00 – 5:00, starting March 10 (6 sessions)

Instructor: Tia Scalcione

An ancient form of storytelling, shadow play involves using flat images manipulated between a bright light and a translucent screen.

Students will, design, build and perform their own stories using techniques borrowed from diverse cultural traditions while learning about aspects of storytelling and performance.

Tia Scalcione has a BFA in Painting from Boston University and has been making and teaching art on the Outer Cape since she washed ashore in 2001. Tia is the Community Outreach Manager at WHAT and has 2 sons in the Nauset School system.

Tuition for each class is $25.  Full scholarships are available to any student. Transportation to WHAT may be available from schools, please ask Tia for more information.
